  • Update for Module B Log for this year's 12th graders in 2021:
    1. You can do either one summative assessment and one graded task OR two graded tasks. It is your choice.
    2. Each one is worth 40% for a total of 80% of the grade (the other 20% is the extensive reading). (posted October 2020)
  • If a student moves from 4 to 5 points or from 3 to 4 points, deduct 10 points from the grade on every text in the log that was studied and assessed at the lower level.  In addition, please note that every text that appears in the log must be on the approved list for the higher level (i.e., every text in a log that is submitted for 5 points must be on the list of approved texts for 5 points). (posted September 2020)
  • All literature grades for Modules B, D and F have to be submitted with the app of the Testing Department. (posted January 2020)

Activities prepared by teachers

Dear High School English teachers,
I hope your year is off to a great start with renewed energy.
Last October, we introduced the aligned literature program for high school English teachers during a webinar, connecting literature instruction to the updated 2020 Curriculum document.
Since then, there have been inquiries about the program's mandatory implementation. During the webinar, I emphasized the importance of transitioning to the national English curriculum in the English classroom. This aligns with our updated policy, focusing on teaching literature and creative texts at all levels in a way that allows to combine the richness of the text to enhance the development of language skills.
This approach to teaching literature isn't entirely new; it's a way to better address students' evolving needs within educational and language standards and according to the curriculum guidelines.
To ensure successful implementation, English teachers are advised to complete a curriculum course this academic year which includes sessions on teaching creative and literary texts while modelling classroom implementation.
Additionally, 4 sample units are available on the English portal. (Please see below).
By September 2024, all English teachers will be required to teach the Bagrut literature program in line with the updated curriculum.
For further clarification, please contact the district English inspector or the school English counselor.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to English language education. Together, we can create a relevant and impactful language program for our students.
Best regards,
Dr. Tziona Levi
